When the GuestObsessed survey will not cooperate

Nine things go wrong with this survey. Eight of them have a fix, and most of the fixes take under a minute. The ninth we will be honest about.

Reviewed August 25, 2026Nine problems · eight fixes

Before anything else, one check that resolves a surprising share of reports: are you using the plain guestobsessed.com address? Guides across the web still link to Index.aspx?POS=Smartcode and similar. Those pages return 404. A dead link is not a broken survey.

The page will not load at all

The most common cause is not the survey. guestobsessed.com forwards you to a Qualtrics domain, and VPNs, corporate networks, DNS filters and aggressive ad blockers all sometimes treat that hop as suspicious and stop it.

  1. Turn off your VPN and reload. This fixes it more often than anything else.
  2. Pause your ad blocker for the tab.
  3. Switch off Wi-Fi and use mobile data, which sidesteps a filtering router.
  4. Try a different browser, or a private window with extensions disabled.
  5. Check the address. If you typed an Index.aspx URL from another guide, you will get a 404 — that page no longer exists. Use the plain domain.

I cannot find the 20-digit survey code

Because current receipts generally do not print one. The code belonged to the retired platform. The survey now wants a receipt photo, or your store number and the date and time. Nothing is wrong with your receipt. The full explanation is on the survey code page.

The receipt photo will not upload or will not read

Thermal paper is a difficult subject: low contrast, semi-gloss, and it fades. Before you give up:

  • Flatten the receipt — curl throws shadows across the lines that matter.
  • Kill the flash. It blows out the print entirely.
  • Shoot straight down, filling the frame with the receipt.
  • Make sure the whole top block is in focus: store number, address, date, time.
  • Try daylight from a window rather than overhead light.

Then stop trying. After two attempts, switch to manual entry — the survey offers it precisely for this, and it takes fifteen seconds.

The date and time field keeps getting rejected

This is a format problem nine times out of ten, and specifically the clock. The field wants MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM on a 12-hour clock.

Receipt saysWrong entryCorrect entry
11:36 AM11:36 with PM11:36 AM
2:36 PM14:3602:36 PM
09/24/202524/09/202509/24/2025

Also match the minutes exactly. The system is matching against a real transaction, and a rounded time can miss it.

The store number is not accepted

Enter the digits only. The example the field gives is 1234 — so type 2072, not Store #2072, not #2072. If you are reading the number off a bag receipt, check you have not picked up the check number by mistake; our receipt guide marks both.

I closed the tab and lost my validation code

This one has no fix, and we would rather say so than pretend. The code is displayed once. There is no account holding a copy, no resend, and no lookup available to restaurant staff.

What you can do: check whether the survey sent anything to an email address you provided, since the welcome screen’s wording suggests coupon delivery. Beyond that, take the lesson — write it on the receipt before anything else.

The survey says I have already taken it

Two likely causes. Either that receipt has already been used — each one works once — or you are inside the seven-day coupon window the survey states on its welcome screen. Feedback submitted inside that window still reaches the company; it just does not pay again.

The restaurant refused my coupon

Usually one of: a non-participating franchise, an expired offer, an unmet purchase requirement, or an attempt to combine it with another discount. Most of the chain is franchised and owners choose which promotions to honour.

Ask once, politely, for the manager. Then leave it — the person at the window has no authority over promotion policy and no interest in a dispute. Contact the company directly instead. The full breakdown is on the redemption page.

My receipt has faded and I cannot read anything

Thermal paper is chemically printed and heat, sunlight and time all erase it — a receipt left on a dashboard in summer can go blank within days. If you can still read the store number and the date and time by eye, use manual entry; you do not need the photo route. If you cannot, that visit is unfortunately spent. Store receipts flat, indoors, and take the survey the same day.

Other questions

Why does guestobsessed.com redirect me somewhere else?

Because the survey runs on Qualtrics, an enterprise survey platform, on a checkers.qualtrics.com subdomain. That redirect is correct and expected behaviour, not a hijack. It is also why VPNs and blockers sometimes interfere with it.

Is the GuestObsessed survey down?

Rarely. Before concluding that, check three things: that you used the plain guestobsessed.com address rather than an old .aspx link, that your VPN is off, and that your ad blocker is not stopping the redirect. Those three account for most reports.

Can I get a new receipt if I lost mine?

No. Restaurants do not reprint receipts for survey purposes, and the survey has no way to find your visit without one. There is no workaround here.

Who do I contact if the survey itself is broken?

Checkers Drive-In Restaurants, not us — we are an independent guide with no access to the survey system, your submission or your coupon. That said, if a screen looked different to the ones we document, please tell us, because it means the form has changed and our page needs re-checking.

We are an independent team that documents restaurant guest-satisfaction surveys. We are not Checkers, Rally’s, or the company that runs GuestObsessed.com. We take the surveys ourselves, screenshot what we see, date every claim, and correct pages when the survey changes. Read our editorial policy or tell us we got something wrong.
